'wichcraft: Rewarding Customer Loyalty Earlier Than Expected

I started to frequent a  'wichcraft kiosk in Greeley Square. The kiosk sells coffee, sandwiches and some pastries. The staff is very friendly.







They have a loyalty card program (see right). After you buy 10 cups of coffee the 11th one is free. Each time you come in they punch your card. The nice thing about this program is that they let you choose any beverage as your free cup. So even if you buy ten small cups of regular coffee, they will still let you get the largest most expensive latte as your free drink.


I already ran through two cards and received two free drinks. When I was getting my ninth cup of coffee I remarked to the Barista "One more and I earn my free cup!" She handed me the coffee, took the card and said I could use the card on this one. No charge! I was really impressed. They rewarded my loyalty early. This is why I am now working on my third card.

They rewarded me early and I have already returned over fifteen more times. STICKY!

Nobody Asked Me!

I would make one suggestion about the card. I would suggest that they print the addresses of the other NYC 'wichcraft locations on the back of the card. As a loyal customer I would seek out a 'wichcraft location to satisfy my cravings and get my card punched when I am not around my regular location.

Follow Up: 01/26/2010

I received an email from The ‘wichcraft team:

"We love to hear that you’re taking advantage of our coffee rewards card—and we loved your idea about incorporating addresses even more. We have decided to take you up on your suggestion the next time we print the coffee and sandwich cards."


Follow Up: 02/14/2010


This past week I redeemed another card and I enjoyed my free coffee tremendously. The cashier did something that I thought was great, with free my coffee she handed me a new blank card. Even though I really did not need it yet because they don't punch the card on the free coffee, by me having the card in my wallet, it tied me back in to the whole purchase-redemption cycle. Superb!
